Herb: Mastering the Art of Cooking with Cannabis
by Chefs Laurie Wolf and Melissa Parks
200 pages
2015 Inkshares

Foodies and edibles enthusiasts will truly enjoy the cannabis cookbook Herb, a cookbook so beautifully produced, it would be equally at home on the coffee table as is in the kitchen.

Gorgeous full color photography accompanies each and every recipe in the book’s 200 pages. The photos make the food look so tempting, they are sure to inspire even the most couch-locked stoner to actually get their butt off the sofa and into the kitchen.

A brief introduction to cannabis will bring newbies up to speed. Instructional chapters teach how to make cannabis infused butter and oils along with guidelines for proper dosing.

ALL of the recipes in this book are made with the aforementioned infused butter and oils as the authors find that the most accessible method for home cooks.

Both Laurie Wolf and Melissa Parks are classically trained chefs and that experience shows.

Sidebar notes of expert tips and tricks pepper the pages to insure home cooks get great results when recreating the recipes.

When practical they also give ways you can vary the recipes, subtly teaching home cooks how to become creative improvisational cooks in the process.

Laurie and Melissa even go into a brief description of some of the most prominent terpenes, for those who want to take their cannabis cooking to the next level with flavor matching strains to foods.

We especially enjoyed the variety of recipes, which cover the spectrum from simple comfort foods like Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese, Philly Cheesesteaks, and Tri-Color Marshmallow Cereal Treats; to haute cuisine like Cream of Asparagus Soup with Frizzled Leeks, Wild Mushroom Pappardelle with Peas and Goat Cheese, and Roasted Cod on Arugula Puree.

All of the recipes in this book use some sort of infused fat to carry the medication – butter or oil, no concentrates, so those looking for lots of options to put their canna-butter or canna-oil to good use will find a lot of great options in these pages to keep them happily fed and medicated.

We especially found the recipes for compound canna-butters useful.

Chefs used flavored compound butters all the time to instantly add richness and flavor to foods. Having some of these compound canna-butters stashed in your freezer will open up a world of edibles possibilities, and allow you to make all kinds of medicated gourmet foods on the fly.

Highly recommended!
